Yesterday in my Af Am studies class, we touched on the subject of marriage and African Americans. Some of what my teacher shared with us left me dissappointed, sad, angry and fearful.
African Americans currently have the lowest marriage rate of any racial group in the United States. 2/3 of African American children are born out of wedlock.
Damn, will I ever get married?

good luck with finals! and the stats on marriage in the black community are so bleak :( i have hope that the good black men out there will step up. i hope to get married and i'm sure you will too...don't worry about it!

that is very depressing...
but I dont have any kids so at least I'm not on both sides of that statistic
girl YES u will get married... u need to note (and ur damn professors too) that although Africa Americans may have the lowest marriage rate... they also make up a small amount of the population. if you compare how many white ppl there are in this country with how many black ppl there are, then OF course the marriage percentage is gonna be smaller.

Good luck on the finals. But I can't see myself having a kid with a baby momma and not a wife. That's just me though...
Statistics like that really scare me.
