Seen any good movies lately?

With the upcoming award shows, I've been talking about nothing but movies. I took advantage of all my free time during the Holiday's and saw several great movies. I have yet to see Slumdog Millionaire and The Reader . Maybe I'll get around to it this weekend. Here's what I did manage to see though....

Seven Pounds was awesome. Definitely showcased what an amazingly versatile actor Will Smith is. I think the concept of the movie was genius and I don't know if any of you saw it but, I thought it was really sad. At the same time it was extremely sweet and romantic. I always knew that Rosario Dawson was beautiful but she's just g o r g e o u s in this movie.

Revolutionary Road was insane! DO NOT go see this movie if you're down in the dumps, that's forsure. This movie is most certainly not a feel good movie but it is so damn good. Kate Winslett and Leonardo DiCaprio are great together. Their chemistry is great and this movie was captivating. Definitely not a happy ending but it's very good.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button...such a precious movie. I'm sure most of you have seen it. My bf complained about it being too long but he's a guy and he was hungry and sleepy so his opinion doesn't matter. It was long in the beginning but it was well worth it so I didn't mind. All in all it was a very sweet story. Oh, and Taraji Hensen was also great in this movie. I just love her.

Changeling was another great film. I cried and cried and felt so sorry for Angelina Jolie's character. The fact that this is a true story just made me cry harder. Again, not a good ending but still a great movie. I've been told it's hard to watch certain movies once you become a parent and this would probably be one of those movies.

I attempted to watch Valkyrie but fell asleep within the first 10 mins so I can't give you my opinion on that one. If I remember correctly there wasn't very much dialogue in the beginning but maybe I'm wrong. At any rate, I didn't like the first 20 mins if that means anything.

I forgot to mention earlier that I also would like to see Milk and Doubt too. I honestly cannot believe that I haven't seen Milk yet because i love me some Sean Penn. Don't judge me! You know he's one sexy man :)

So maybe I'll get around to seeing two more movies this weekend. Hope you all have a great one.

and she does it again....

for some reason blogger is dumb and i can't upload the video (this happens way too often by the way), so check it out here.

Beyonce is freakin' amazing. Period.

and i thought I'd add this just for fun. Cess took a random pic of Jess and I on Fri night. I saw it and I immediately thought of this girl. I don't quite have it down yet, but i'm gonna talk to her about some "sexy face" lessons... ;)

p.s., i saw Hope Floats for the first time this weekend O M G, how cute is that movie?!?!?! I'm so naming my future daughter Bernice.

All about Dark Knight business

hahaha, so my box office predictions weren't that off. it was indeed a great movie and i am totally not a superhero/comic book/magic powers kinda girl. i thoroughly enjoyed Dark Knight and all of it's darkness. i did not however enjoy Maggie Gyllenhal's lackluster performance. wtf?! Heath Ledger was just amazing and watching him was bittersweet. because there was some drama at the arclight, we all scored free tickets for another movie. yay! i spent the rest of my weekend relaxing @ Hermosa Beach with my gang.i seriously needed that. now i'm at work annoyed with people who give me their crap to do as if i don't have my own crap to take care of. sometimes people seriously take your niceness for granted. i'm going to start being a tad bit more stern. i need to start setting some boundaries. i find myself wanting to snap more and more each day. i need a vacation ASAP.

all about celebrating

yesterday i had a pretty crappy day (this funk really needs to get over itself and leave already). it was so bad that i think i actually shed a tear at work which is and isn't a huge deal. it isn't a huge deal, because i'll admit (only here on my blog though), i'm a crier. i used to be really bad, but now i'm a lil' better. anyhow, i'm still a crier so it wasn't out of the ordinary. however, i NEVER cry in front of people (unless you're one of my best friends, dad or boyfriend)! I didn't cry in front of anyone yesterday because my desk is in the cut but come on, what if someone would've dropped something off?! or wanted to ask a question or heard me sniffling. Maybe this is TMI, but it is that time of the month and maybe i'm just super sensitive but yea, i'm a weenie and i cried.at.work. i quickly called my best friend and she helped me get me back in shape. 5 mins later my boss called me into his office and gave me a raise woot woot!!! 2 hours later i'm in a better mood, walking to my car, hop in my car, go to turn it on and my key just doesn't want to work. I make sure i'm in the right car (seriously) and try again. and again. mind you, i'm in the underground parking lot, i have no service on my phone, i'm wearing a long sleeve dress and it's about 115 degrees. i cried again. this time a whiney cry. i go back to the lobby and call AAA. they come bang my key in with a hammer and send me on my merry way. i go to my besties and she surprises me with these really cute pink sheets i've been trying to find (love the girl), her aunt makes us dinner and i watched a new episode of Run's House. I leave, go to start my car and guess what? the key doesn't work AGAIN. instead of crying (again) i take of my heel bang the freakin key and go on my merry way. seriously, do you notice the trend? good, bad, good, bad, good bad.
it happened again this morning. apparently i need a new igniton. i'm not going to worry about that right now because honestly, i don't even have the energy to deal with that right now. on a happier note, i'm going to see Dark Knight tonight to celebrate my raise and the stupid funk that i've been in. yes, i'm celebrating it- because it's dying tonight. i'm over it. i'm forcing myself to get over it. so it was good while it lasted (haha, yea right) but that's it! no more! even though things are pretty shitty right now, the good definitely outweighs the bad so that's what i'm celebrating tonight. everyone is predicting Dark Knight will do about 130 million this weekend. i honestly think it'll do more. somewhere between 160-180 million and i'm not just saying this because i work for WB but it's releasing on a tonnnnn screens. it could happen! that's it. i'm out. i'll let you know how awesome it is tomorrow. ciao.

all about church sightings.

heidi montag was soooo @ my church yesterday. this is actually her second time visiting. we have quite a lot of celebs that attend our church but there was definitely a buzz when her and spencer first visited. it was on that glorious occasion that i realized how handsome he is (tv really does not do this boy justice, he's gorgeous) and she's suuupppperrr tiny (tinier than she looks on camera, hard to believe huh?)
i kinda wonder how they found our church, i mean..do they know someone? I honestly feel that my pastor has a way of affecting every single person, every single time. He makes you feel like he is talking directly to you, dissecting your life circumstances and situations. He's not overbearing, he doesn't try to beat you over the head with religion. I think he focuses more on the relationship YOU have with Christ. His focus is not whether or not you attend church every Sunday (and i truly believe most of our members not only attend church on sunday but they also attend bible study, praise and worship, IHP etc. throughout the week). Our pastor is a teacher. He is passionate about the word of God. He's passionate about teaching others the word of God. He's passionate about bringing Jesus into the lives of those who haven't accepted him or don't know about him or for whatever reason are afraid to know him. Pastor Mel's character is similar to the character of Jesus. He will not force himself on you. He makes himself available for those who invite him into their lives. God's grace is a free gift. The same is true of Pastor Mel. He is a free gift. His ministry is a free gift. I've taken quite a few friends to church with me and every single person a) loved it and b) came back. I get it when people say that church isn't for everyone. I was once one of those people and i felt the same way, but i truly feel that this church IS for everyone and i think that's part of the reason why our church is so diverse. We seriously have members/visitors of every ethnicity (well not every, but you know what I mean). Sorry, i went on about all of that. It was just on my heart and sometimes i forget how truly blessed I am that I was introduced to such an amazing church, with amazing ministries and amazing people.I always fear that if I move I won't be able to find a church that can even compare to In His Presence. anyway, check out my pretty church here on Justjared (the pics kinda suck..but ehh). btw, Get Smart came in #1 at the box office this weekend-ranking in $38,675,000. we're having a lil' fiesta here @ work to celebrate. did anyone see it? thoughts?

all about eff'd up days

have you ever had a day where everything is just ALL BAD? The day just seems so eff'd up? Well, hello June 18th, thanks for being so crappy to me. Gah, can this day just be over please? Is it really possible for one person to just annoy the crap out of you and if so, why? Why can't I just learn to ignore certain individuals and their ridiculousness? and another thing, I HATE PowerPoint.
Okay, i'm done bitchin'. I just went into my boss' office to watch the trailer to Pineapple Express. It looks hilarious. Can't wait.
